Qualifying Questions:

You’re practicing currently, right?

Can you tell me a little about your practice?

Are you practicing by yourself or do you work with others?

Are you billing insurance? Do you have to do patient billing yourself?

Are you doing any marketing work for your practice?

How many cases/appointments per week do you see?

-5-10 p/week small

-30 p/week large, call RK if receptive

Would you like to be busier than that?  How big of a practice do you imagine yourself having?

If you’re happy with your practice size and the time that you’re spending practicing- would you like to decrease the time you spend on billing and admin and increase your patient load and income?

Are you doing anything else?

Scenario:

Introduction portion: Hello ___ My name is ___ and I’m calling on behalf of Great Lakes Psychology Group. We just became aware of your practice over there and thought we’d introduce our practice to you.  We just recently opened an office over there in (Livonia or Troy), and we have a lot of success on our other 2 locations, and we’ve got a fabulous place to practice for counselors.  So, we just wanted to say hello and see if you had any interest.

The group itself is run an operated by Dr. Richard Kneip, he’s been practicing in the metro Detroit area for over 25 years.  He’s formerly the clinical director at Oakland Psychologist clinic, which has 8 offices scattered around Detroit metro, (and they even had an office over here in Livonia).  Dr. Kneip started up Great Lakes Psychology Group 2 years ago, with just him in an office in Clarkston, and over those two years they’ve grown to 25 clinical staff in 3 different locations.  It’s really a great place to practice, you could take a look at the website if you like and learn a little more about it. They can bill insurance, they have a very professional setting, and they put a high premium on privacy and confidentiality, there’s a lot of collegial sharing and collaboration, lots of counselors told us that when they were in practice it was very isolating, it got lonely, they didn’t really have colleagues to interact with, so we made that a big part of GLPG.

We take care of all of our billing, all you have to do is see your patients and take your notes.  We have a group doing insurance billing, and claims go out every day, our average turn around time is less than two weeks, and our collection rate is over 95% with no problems whatsoever. We do patient billing in house because it allows us to stay on top of that, we know our patients, we know when they’re coming in, we like to answer the phone when they’re coming in because we treat them well and afford that personal touch.

I’m not sure how you’re doing notes right now, but Our medical records system is web based, which means you have access to it at all times from home, work, wherever.  It’s all completely confidential, when you login in only you have access to your clients, nobody else in the organization has access to that protected health information.  And, what’s really beautiful, is the system sets up very nicely for voice dictations, so if you have the right computer or software, you can dictate right into the notes, and if it takes you more than 2 minutes to do a progress note, then something is wrong.

Most everything sits on the internet and is produced by an outside vendor, so therefor they have their own ___, their own tutorials, but yes, we will get it all set up for you, and there’s lots of support, you can reach out and talk to somebody at any given time and any day, and if nobody answers immediately within an hour or two someone will be in touch and helping you resolve any technical problems.

Dr. Kneip will be delighted to talk to you, I could take your contact information and have him call you, or you can send an email to me with some dates and times that you’re available, whatevers convenient for you.  I’d love to put you in touch with him. I know some questions he’ll have, if you don’t mind, I can ask you them ahead of schedule and shoot him the information:

Do not have to give up private practice most of the time- dependent, and RK would best answer.

Cash payments- how many of them that are paying you in cash may have insurance that they could be paying you with, ensuring a longer relationship and more consistent billing and collecting, likely at a higher rate?

RK Sidenote: No, we don’t staff psychiatrists for medication dispensing, but as you know about 90% of patients on psychotropic medications receive those prescriptions from their primary care physicians.  Most PCPs are happy to coordinate that for those basic simple cases.

LM note: GLPG is experiencing practically unprecendented growth in Southeastern Michigan due to the various marketing strategies they’re undertaking and the amazing environment they offer to practice in.
